myriam Aadli
FranceAbout
Since 1988, Myriam Aadli has developed an independent photographic practice situated within contemporary documentary and street photography. Rooted in a humanist approach, her work places particular emphasis on duration, sustained attention to situations, and the relational dimension of looking. She studied cinematography at ESEC Paris (1984–1986) before continuing her training in acting at the Actor’s Studio in New York (1986–1988). This dual formation has shaped a practice attentive to bodily gesture, spatial composition and the lived temporality of everyday situations. Between 1998 and 2004, she also worked as a theatre director, creating and adapting texts and directing actors. Since the late 1980s, she has developed photographic projects across diverse geographic contexts — including Africa, the Maghreb, Asia, Indonesia, Central and North America, and Europe — approaching public space as a site of observation, experience and encounter. Her photographs have been published in several international magazines and platforms including Géo, B&W World, Inspired Street Photography, ISP Magazine, Progressive Street and Street Photography in the World. In 2025, she was awarded First Prize in Street Photography (Amateur Category) at the Fine Art Photography Awards, and also received distinctions from the Visual Story Photography Awards, the Berlin Photo Awards (finalist), the Refocus Awards (London) and the Dodho Portrait Awards, with publication in both the magazine and the associated book. She was also finalist at Street Badass Magazine and received recognition at the Mono Awards with a 3rd Prize in the Professional Category and two Honourable Mentions. Her work has been exhibited in Paris and will be presented at the Rencontres de Chabeuil (France, September 2025), followed by an exhibition in Milan in 2026 ETC...
